Stebbins and St. Michael Wind and Grid Bridging Projects

AVEC was awarded funding by Denali Commission to construct a 900kW wind turbine and connection to the existing electrical distribution system in Stebbins.  It is being built adjacent to the road that connects Stebbins and St. Michael and will serve both communities through the use of an electrical intertie.  Denali Commission also awarded a Grid Bridging System (GBS) to be installed into the Stebbins power plant to effectively moderate fluctuations in wind power that will increase the efficiency and reliability of the microgrid for both villages.  The GBS is expected to be completed in Spring 2024.
