Description

Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, Inc., a generation and distribution utility serving 57 villages in Alaska, is seeking a Diesel Mechanic for its Bethel, Alaska plant. This position requires experience maintaining diesel engines and associated equipment, including overhauling, troubleshooting, tear down and rebuilding of the engines. This position will assist other mechanics and operators at the Bethel plant. Qualified applicants must have knowledge and experience with circulating pumps and other mount driven equipment, as well as working understating of electrical and power generating systems. Some welding and fabricating knowledge is preferred, but not required.

Must be able to lift, wrench, and manipulate parts, equipment and tools both mechanical and stationary. Current generation system at this location includes six (6) 16-645 EMD engines with heat recovery systems.

Must be able to work flexible hours, shift work as needed, and on call.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Experience Requirements

5-7 years of similar experience and complexity
