Public Notice of Proposed Tariff Amendments:
Change in Customer, Demand, and Energy Charges

October 17, 2022

The Board of Directors of Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, Inc. is considering tariff adjustments which include changes in Customer, Demand, and Energy Charges.

The adjustments represent an average change in rates of 9.6% which will help the Cooperative to manage cost increases due to inflation. These changes will also better reflect the cost of serving AVEC communities and bring rates into closer alignment with those costs. If approved, the proposed rate changes would apply to service used on or after December 30, 2022. The specific proposed rate changes for Bethel, Yakutat, and all other locations are attached to this notice.

All other locations include Alakanuk, Amber, Andreafsky, Anvik, Brevig Mission, Chevak, Eek, Ekwok, Elim, Emmonak, Gambell, Goodnews Bay, Grayling, Holy Cross, Hooper Bay, Huslia, Kalskag Lower/Upper, Kaltag, Kasigluk, Kiana, Kivalina, Kobuk, Kotlik, Koyuk, Marshall,
Mekoryuk, Minto, Mountain Village, New Stuyahok, Nightmute, Noatak, Noorvik, Nulato, Nunapitchuk, Old Harbor, Pilot Station, Pitka’s Point, Quinhagak, Russian Mission, Savoonga, Scammon Bay, Selawik, Shageluk, Shaktoolik, Shishmaref, Shungnak, St Mary’s, St Michael, Stebbins, Teller, Togiak, Toksook, Tununak, and Wales.

There will be a Public Hearing on November 18, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the AVEC Board Room. Members can join in via teleconference upon request. The purpose of the Public Hearing is for (1) management to explain the rate changes and why they are needed and (2) for members to ask questions and make statements regarding the proposed rate changes. The Board of Directors will consider the information from the Public Hearing in deciding whether to approve, disapprove or modify the proposed rate changes.

The agenda will be available at the office and on the AVEC website prior to the Public Hearing and will include the teleconference call in number. The proposed revised tariff sheets showing the specific changes will be available to members at the meeting, as well as in advance upon request.
