Don’t Forget To Vote!Posted: March 4, 2019
The deadline to receive signed ballots is April 09, 2019.
AVEC’s 2019 Board of Directors election is underway. A packet of election material was mailed out in late February and should have arrived in your mailbox. This year there are two board seats being vacated, those of Fred Sagoonick of Shaktoolik and Walter Sampson of Noorvik. Each seat is for a three-year term.
As part of the voting process, members interested in running for election to the board submitted a letter expressing their interest and past experience. A nominating committee met to discuss the potential candidates, determine eligibility and select the slate of nominees for the membership to vote on.
The following four candidates were nominated to run for election to AVEC’s board (in alphabetical order): Phyllis Clough of Old Harbor, Nathan Moulton of Yakutat, Walter Sampson of Noorvik and Fred Sagoonick of Shaktoolik. Each of the nominees are considered “at-large” and represent all of our communities. They have connections to our communities and our cooperative that help them make decisions that are in the best interest of all members.
Your vote counts! Please take the time to fill out the ballot and mail it in. No matter how much or how little electric energy you consume, you have an equal vote in this important election. We enclosed a brochure with background information about these four candidates so you can make an informed vote. The ballot and signed envelope must be received at the post office box no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 9. The results will be announced at the annual meeting in Anchorage on April 10, 2019.
