Job Opening: Journeyman Electrical Technician

Location: Based out of Anchorage, AK
Traveling to remote Alaskan Communities
Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, Inc. has an opening for a Journeyman Electrical Technician to travel to its Remote Alaskan Communities. This position will preform pre-operational inspections of generator set and systems, must be able to adjust protective relays and circuit breakers to meet system requirements, and will troubleshoot and repair both electrical and mechanical problems on single or double bearing electrical generators from 75 to 1000 KW. Troubleshooting and repair work will be required on electrical control panels, switchgears, safety devices and solid state devices used on generator sets. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair equipment associated with wind turbines and controls. May require tower climbing.
Supervision: This position may supervise, operate as lead, or may be required to train Power Plant Operators, laborers, or other traveling technicians or construction staff.
Requirements: High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus two (2) years experience working in regular contact with electrical generators, regulating equipment and distribution systems and completion of not less than two of the following vocational courses: a)Basic Electricity, b)Electric Transmission & Distribution, c)Electrical Wiring, d)Schematic and Wiring Diagram Reading, e)Generator and Motor Theory
